Dear Friends,
Another week of work behind us and we continue to make a difference in the lives of those in need along the gulf Coast.
We are planning a trip for this Saturday, October 11. I am waiting to hear from the Conference as to where they want us to go (probably Galveston) and that should be some time today.
I will have more information after we hear back from the Conference, but initial plans would be to leave the church by 8:00 AM and return by 6:00 PM. If we have enough people and a driver we may take one of the church buses. Otherwise we can go in personal transportation. I will have maps available for you. If you can work for just a couple of hours and want to come on your own any time during the day, that is fine also. I would like to know how many to expect, so let me know.
Last week's accomplishments:
We continued work on the shower buildings. One shower building is just about ready to transport - showers installed and plumbing almost done. The other two need showers installed and plumbing. One needs a roof but Clifford Moore has agreed to do that for us this week. By the end of this week we hope to have the others ready to go. One will be going to Houma, Louisiana and one to Friendswood UMC. The last one will be decided in the next week or so.
Kim Kennedy, Jackson Hooper and Bill Back met some 40 college kids in Bridge City to help clean out homes and did some great work, worship and witnessing for members of St Paul UMC. I can't wait to hear the stories and share some of their pictures with you. Next time you see any of these guys be sure to thank them for their efforts.
Thanks to each of you for your interest and willingness to help those in need. Just being there and helping is a real blessing to them and let's them know how we and God loves them. Keep lifting up these neighbors and workers in your prayers. Spread the word, we need workers and leaders.
Blessings to all,
The MDUMC Response Team

Great work! I love that these projects are being done inter-generationally. We have teens, college students, and adults of all decades! Love God Love Neighbor knows no age boundaries!
Thanks for sharing your time and talent in this way, both to help others recover from the storm, but also to let the world know what you are doing with the blog.
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is working through this work.
