First of all thanks to all of you that have participated in our disaster relief efforts over the last couple of weeks. In a disaster such as this and with the magnitude of work to be done you may be thinking that the work you do doesn't make much difference, but that is far from the truth. Every home we clean out, every church we restore, every shower we build makes a difference in someone's life and reflects God's love for them. Look at what we've done so far:
We started construction of 3 mobile shower buildings - we will probably have them completed this week and ready for delivery.
Bridge City, Texas - mucked out the parsonage for Rev David and Anita Green
Galveston, Texas - mucked out Alicia Coultzer's parent's home
Food Drive for Mission Milby - you should have seen Friendship Court. We filled up a truck with food that was given and still had some left over. That food was delivered on Monday.
Many of you have worked on the shower buildings, others have helped in cleaning out the homes we have worked on along the coast and many brought non-perishable food on Sunday.
I am sure many of you have supported this effort financially as well and that is so important. There is so much work to be done and we are currently working with the Conference and our DS, Gail Ford Smith, to help determine current and long-term plans. In the meantime, we are meeting to determine what we are going to do this week, so keep reading your email and/or watching the church website to see what's happening and where you can help. God has blessed us all, let's continue to bless those around us that need our help.
We'll be in touch. Blessings,

Hi, MDUMC Responders,
I am "piggy-backing" on Randy's email to thank each of you for all the muscle and heart that you have given to those you have encountered as you've loved your neighbors. The work may represent a morning or weekend's time for you, but the results of your love and care will be long lasting.
Thank you for being who you are!
Blessings,
Susan
